How to Put Your Team’s Fundraiser in the Top 1%
So you want to run a crowdfunding campaign for your team’s next fundraiser....Do these 7 things to put your fundraiser in the top 1%.
1. Your Players Are Your Best Resource
Don’t just ‘set up a gofundme’ and ask for donations to a generic team page. Instead, ask donors to contribute to specific, player-centric donation pages. Teamfi lets your players each create their own page in ~25 seconds, all you have to do is share your team’s auto-generated sign up link with them.
2. Direct Outreach is King
So you’ve used Teamfi to have each of your players set up personalized donation pages. Now what? Sure, using Teamfi’s share tools to post to social media will bring in some donations, but having your players reach out DIRECTLY to donors is FAR more powerful – “Its harder to say no to someone face to face”
3. Texting >>> Email
When you do your direct outreach, make sure it’s via text, and NOT email. Why? Open Rates. If you get a text, you’re gonna open it (>98% open rate). Most emails, on the other hand, go straight to the trash (20% open rates). We’ve built Teamfi to be 100% text based to make sure you’re getting the best open-rates possible.
4. Automate Where Possible
Don’t expect your players to do direct outreach on their own. Instead, use software (like Teamfi) that completely automates the donor outreach process. All you have to do as the fundraiser’s organizer is hit ‘Activate’ on Teamfi’s Coach dashboard – We’ll take care of the rest.
5. Prepare In Advance
It’s impossible to know just how much each of your players will raise, so don’t set your team’s target on that number. Instead, ask of each your players to contribute a set number of potential donors – common targets are in the 10-25 range, per player. And yes, Teamfi will track this for you on your Coach Dashboard – you’ll see each of your players an how many contacts they’ve added. We even assign a grade A-F (just like in the classroom!) based on each of your player’s number of contacts.
You can stay updated with your players' onboarding by looking at the "Grade" and "# of Contacts" columns on your team's fundraising roster on the Teamfi Coaches Dashboard.
6. Incentives, Incentives, Incentives
What is your team planning on using the fundraiser proceeds for? A lot of coaches will use the funds raised to pay for many different things, and that’s perfectly fine! BUT, just know that that may not be a strong enough pull for players to participate. To get your players excited to participate, you will likely need some sort of extra incentive - special gear, food, recognition…. It could be anything!
7. Check the Fees
Congrats - you’ve followed our 6 steps above and raised $25K for your team….but how much of that are you keeping? Before you start your next crowdfunding campaign, make SURE you’re not paying more than SINGLE-DIGIT fees. With Teamfi, you keep 92% of what you raise – Every. Single. Time.
Cheers,
